Clouds Parting, Love Radiating - Paula & Xin's Maui Beach Elopement

With a full agenda that included sunrise atop Haleakala, a bike tour down the mountain, zip lining, and a half marathon, there was no shortage of entertainment for Washington couple Paula and Xin. The most important event on their list though was none other than their Maui Beach Elopement. As the rain soaked day progressed towards ceremony time, the beautiful brides decided to just focus on one another and not worry about the weather. Then, as if by magic, the clouds parted and the sun shone on their faces right as they began their stroll down to the beach from their ocean view villa. Being in the land where Paula's dad came from, and with Xin's sister to witness, the love and Aloha of the island wrapped this beaming couple of 18 years in warmth as they exchanged their vows and became spouses for life. It was our distinct honor to be a part of this moment in their story and, Paula and Xin, we cannot thank you enough for including us. We wish you both all the best in your adventures ahead! Congratulations & Warm Aloha!!!

Blushing Brides & Touches of Ivory - Erika & Tiffany's Maui Wedding

In complimenting dresses, Erika and Tiffany gathered with loved ones along the ivory sands of Ironwoods Beach. With excited nerves, they prepared for their Maui Beach Wedding and a moment more than seven years in the making. With love in their hearts, and emotion in their eyes, they recited personal vows they had written for another. It was then that the nerves melted away, revealing two women madly in love and prepared for this exciting new journey together. Their guests cheered with delight, especially an extra adorable niece, as Erika and Tiffany officially became wife and wife. We had so much with this well coordinated group and couldn't be happier for our beautiful brides. Thank you, ladies! Congratulations & Warm Aloha!!!

Rhythm & Verse - Janine & Bianca's Maui Wedding

After meeting in a college poetry class and falling for one another more than ten years ago, Janine and Bianca decided to make it ring finger official. While their beloved pooch Cocoa relaxed at home, they left Haight Ashbury for some romance by the sunset light. With loved ones, including their adorable twin niece and nephew, gathered around...some cooing so loud they even tried to steal the show...this charming group witnessed the joining of two hearts. Given how they met, they chose to exchange poetry in lieu of traditional vows. With Emily Dickinson and Maya Angelou's words, plus the smooth sound of the live guitar, the atmosphere was sheer perfection. Their pronouncement was met with cheers from all, as the newlyweds beamed with joy. Thank you, Janine and Bianca. We so enjoyed getting to know you both and couldn't be happier for your beautiful Maui Wedding. We wish you all the best for your lifetime together. Congratulations & Warm Aloha!!!

The Sweetest Love - The Wallace's Maui Family Portraits

Welcome back, Wallace Family! We absolutely adore this sweet trio and were thrilled they chose Karma Hill Photography again! We met Owen last year when he was still brand new to this adventure we call life. Luckily for him, he has two outstanding moms to show him the ropes! Now standing strong at thirteen months old, this silly little guy had a blast eating some sand, chasing some waves, and catching some rays. Could he be any cuter? I don't think so. It's amazing how fast they grow and we are just so excited to have captured his infancy, and now his foray in to toddler-hood. What an honor to photograph this loving family enjoying the charms of this stunning island. Thank you, Wallace Family! We love when clients return and we would love to see you three back again next year for Maui family Portraits! Until we meet again, Warm Aloha!!!

Seaside Lullaby - The Tan's Maui Family Portraits

When it comes to our children, it can feel like they grow up in the blink of an eye. For this reason, it's so important to capture as much as you can before the moment becomes a memory in the mind's eye. The Tan family had this very idea. For their stunning daughters' first vacation, they wanted to document this epic adventure with Maui Family Portraits. As it was their first trip to the beach, the adorable twins were simultaneously enthralled and soothed by the sounds of the sea. With the fresh air gently caressing their cheeks, the little dynamic duo even caught a few Z's here and there. As every parent of an infant can attest, when the baby is asleep, leave them be! It just makes for more precious moments anyway! Between the doting dads and the precious pair they so obviously love to the moon and back, this cute family from Singapore was a dream to work with. Thank you, Tan Family, for letting Karma Hill Photography be on hand to capture these perfect moments that will become cherished memories. We hope to see you four back again soon! Until then, we wish your family all the blessings in the world. Warm Aloha!!!

Fun Loving Foursome - The Kaltio's Maui Family Portraits

On a beautiful pastel morning, we had the absolute pleasure of meeting up with the Kaltio Family for their Maui Family Portraits. For 20 month old twins Gus and Poppy, there was no greater draw then the big blue sea. Their proud daddies were kept on their toes wrangling the energetic duo as the surf called their names. The soft cloud cover provided the perfect natural filter so this Canadian foursome didn't have to battle the sun in their eyes, they just got to enjoy the family bonding time. We relish getting to capture these moments for loving families, a cherished memory the Kaltio Family will get to treasure as their adorable twins grow up. Thank you for allowing Karma Hill Photography to share in your vacation. We look forward to welcoming you all back again next time!!! Until then, Warm Aloha!!!

Tyler & Kevin's Anniversary Portraits at Makena Big Beach

We met Tyler and Kevin at Makena Big Beach in south Maui last week for their 5 year anniversary portrait session. Tyler had planned the whole photo shoot as a surprise for Kevin. They arrived sporting delicious-smelling Hawaiian leis that their hotel had given them just minutes before. We took a couple snap shots with the leis and then ran off to play in the waves. We had a whole hour before the sun hit the horizon so we ventured up into the trees, splashed in the waves, ran up the shore, cuddled on the hill and took some detail shots of their unique wedding rings. When you're watching the sunset in Maui, make sure you turn around and look behind you to see what the sun is doing to the landscape. We're so glad we spun around because right above us we found giant pink clouds that provided an awesome dramatic backdrop for their final images! Thank you so much Tyler and Kevin for choosing Photography by Karma Hill for your anniversary portraits. Congratulations on your 5 years!!

Gary & Tom Surprise Proposal at the Royal Lahaina Resort - by Staff Photographer Chamonix

Last week, we received a phone call from Gary with a very special request. He wanted to propose to his boyfriend Tom and he wanted us to photograph it. They've been together for 25 years! Tom had to go to some conferences for work here on the island so Gary and their friend Kris joined him for a tropical getaway. They were enjoying their breakfast at the poolside restaurant in the Royal Lahaina Resort when we arrived just in time for this surprise proposal. Gary had it all planned out. He asked Chamonix to pretend to be a local Maui journalist who was writing an editorial piece about tourists staying in resorts on Maui's west coast. Chamonix strolled around the pool, spotted the trio at their table and approached with a notepad. "Where are you guys from?", "What's been your favorite thing about Maui so far?", "How do you all know each other?" Gary and Kris directed the conversation with enthusiasm while Tom stared off into the distance, completely oblivious to what was about to happen. After jotting down their answers, Chamonix pulled out her camera and asked, "Do you mind if I snap a few photos to accompany the article?" We walked over to the lawn and took some group photos beside the palm trees. Then, as Gary had requested, Chamonix took individual portraits, giving lots of extra special attention to Tom. Gary wanted Chamonix to draw out Tom's inner supermodel so she was saying things like, "Lean into the tree, stick out your hip, wrap your arms over your head, good, that looks fantastic, you have the perfect look for what we're going for with this feature!" As the poses became more and more bizarre, Tom started glancing around awkwardly. Just as he was about to ask Chamonix for a business card to prove she was a legitimate journalist, Gary stepped away, changed his shirt and pushed play on a special song. He knelt down on one knee and popped the question. It was so wonderful seeing the happy surprise on Tom's face. We followed their proposal with a few more portraits in the beautiful Hawaiian palm trees and then let them get back to their celebratory breakfast! Massive congratulations Tom & Gary. It was an honor to be part of your special proposal!

Bright & Beautiful - Brandon & Carson's Couples Portraits Preview by Maui Photographer Karma Hill

Brandon and Carson were visiting Maui from British Columbia and decided to get some portraits to take advantage of hawaii's beauty while they were vacationing. There is nothing like getting back home to the grey and cold and being able to re-live your Maui experience with some awesome images to keep you warm! It was so fun working with these two, they were up for anything I suggested. Of course they are both so handsome, it made my job easy, I don't think they could take a bad picture!  Mahalo Brandon & Carson for choosing me to capture your portraits while on Maui!
