My first Civil Union Photography! Bob & Ken's Maui Civil Union Preview by Maui Wedding Photographer Karma Hill

As of January of this year, Hawaii legalized civil unions for same sex couples. I was so happy and proud that my state was among the few to recognize partnerships regardless of sexual orientation.
I first met Bob & Ken in 2009 when they hired me to take some couples portraits for them. They are the most amazing couple and I had so much fun with them.  I was thrilled when they contacted me again to document their civil union ceremony. They have been together over 30 years and had commitment ceremony on the same beach 5 years ago, so they are already a very established couple but wanted to make their union legal with the state as part time Maui residents.  Close friends and family were on hand to be a part of their special day and there was lots of love and Aloha to go around.  They started their ceremony by giving each guest in attendance a flower lei.  They purchased new Koa wood inset rings to be blessed as a part of the ceremony and exchanged big island maile leis. It was a beautiful evening and I was so happy to be a part of it, Mahalo Bob & Ken for choosing me to be a part of your civil union!

Karma, you truly captured the beauty and essence of the ceremony. It was such an honor to officiate Bob and Ken's ceremony and it was such a delight to be working with you. You have such an "invisible way of weaving through the ceremony and finding those memorable photos - a rare skill indeed. Mahalo

We are so touched to have been a part of your ever-blossoming union over these many years! Congratulations on what appears to have been another beautiful, touching ceremony in your "Maui homeland". (The photographs are gorgeous....and really capture the essence of your enduring love).

So much love,
